Great Northern Distillery (GND) is one of Ireland’s largest independent whiskey distilleries, located in Dundalk, County Louth, near the border with Northern Ireland. Founded in 2015 by John Teeling, a pioneer of the modern Irish whiskey revival, the distillery was established to supply high-quality Irish whiskey to both domestic and international brands. The site occupies the former Harp Brewery, a large industrial complex that was redeveloped into a modern distillation facility capable of producing multiple styles of Irish whiskey.
Great Northern Distillery was designed as a large-scale contract and private-label whiskey producer, making it a key supplier to many emerging whiskey brands around the world. The distillery produces a wide range of spirit styles, including single malt, single grain, and single pot still whiskey, allowing customers to create unique blends and proprietary products. This flexibility has made GND one of the most important production partners in the modern Irish whiskey industry.
