Located in the historic Boyne Valley near Drogheda, Boann Distillery is a family-owned Irish whiskey distillery founded by the Cooney family. Established in 2016, the distillery was created to revive the rich distilling heritage of the region, which once supported numerous whiskey producers before the industry declined in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Named after Boann, the Celtic goddess of the River Boyne, the distillery reflects a deep connection to the surrounding landscape and Irish mythology. The state-of-the-art facility blends modern technology with traditional whiskey-making methods, producing spirits using copper pot stills and locally sourced grains from Irish farmers. Water used in production is drawn from a well in the Boyne Valley, helping give the whiskey its distinctive regional character.
